i lost october.
I found a quote by L.M. Montgomery over on Pinterest (sigh) the other day. It says, "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."
I am, too. Fall is my very favorite time of year, full of strange new transitions, bright colors, crisp air, delicious smells, and the splendid anticipation of the holidays that are just around the corner. I always feel such a crazy mix of emotions, and I think it's unarguably the most exhilarating season of all.
But this year, I'm not exactly sure where October went. I think I lost it. In the middle of my first quarter of grad school, panicked over midterms and operating budgets, it disappeared. We didn't even carve a single pumpkin this year.
But we did take Claire to the haunted house (it scared me more than her), have been nesting a lot, and now that I've gotten most of my midterms back and I did OK after all, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief and stop to smell the Chaider.
(Isn't that last picture kind of magical?)
I'm feeling really excited for November, too. I love Thanksgiving, and am feeling especially grateful this year. Election day is just four short days away (have you voted yet?)! Starbucks released their holiday cups the day after Halloween. I'm making chocolate chip cookie and dark chocolate ganache sandwiches next week. J and I are visiting the Wallace cabin for Veteran's day. And my blog is going to have its first giveaway this month! I'm more excited about this than I probably should be, but I just think Party in Your Shoes makes such fun gifts, and I'm so incredibly proud of my darling friend Carissa, their VP of Sales.
Hope your October was wonderful.
Xo,
Jess
